Geaneve Herzog has lived in her Pittsfield home for nearly 60 years and does not plan to move anytime soon. At 87, she still keeps up with a thriving vegetable garden that produces squash, cucumbers, lettuce, peppers, eggplant and tomatoes. She is able to do that and more with the help of her friends at Porchlight VNA/Home Care, who provide a personalized combination of clinical care and companionship.
Over the years Geaneve has faced major health issues including heart failure that required a double bypass surgery. Recently, she underwent successful surgical treatment for colon cancer by Dr. Marcella Bradway at Berkshire Medical Center. Intervention and education from Porchlight VNA staff have decreased her episodes of congestive heart failure (CHF). In these cases, Porchlight VNA was there to help her rehabilitate and get her back to her way of life under the direction of Dr. Rebecca Caine and Dr. Daniel Kusick.
Equally as important has been Porchlight Home Care’s personal care assistance, homemaking and companionship services. Throughout the week, compassionate staff members provide companionship, housekeeping, laundry and showering to enhance Geaneve’s quality of life. As a result, Geaneve is able to enjoy more time with her family and her garden.
